Sol Selectas welcomes back our Spanish friend Yamil for his first solo EP on the label, with 3 original tracks, and 3 stellar remixes. Each song is a fusion of indigenous sounds with modern electronic beats, and we hear inspirations from Latin, Arabic, and Indian folkloric music.

The title track “La Flor Colorada” is a collaboration with Clemente, and features the vocals of legendary Panamanian folk singer Rosalinda de La Espada. The song fuses the the powerful vocals of Rosalinda with a bass heavy Afro groove, and twisted metallic percussion patterns.

“Naidi” combines analog sequences with Indian vocals, creating a beautiful but edgy deep house tune, filled with emotion. On the remix we welcome Portugal’s Xinobi to the label, and his interpretation strips back the vocal elements, while chopping up the original analog synth noises to create a strong tension-building track, which blurs the line between Indie Dance and Afro Tech.

“Sanctuary” is smooth downtempo tune with a Moroccan “Gnawa” influence accompanied by flutes and tribal percussions. The sample is taken from Remix <-> Culture and features the Moroccan artist Mourad Belouadi. On the remixes we welcome Angelos from Greece, who turns up the heat on “Sanctuary”, and crafts a perfect Afro tribal remix of the original. Derun from Turkey also remix “Sanctuary”, incorporating their signature percussive drums, and adding a beautiful breakdown which blasts off into psychedelic arpeggios and chants.

The artwork by Helia Jamali takes us to a playful garden of red flowers and dreams.
